World PT Day 2026: Physiotherapy, physical activity and cardiovascular health

On 8 September, the global physiotherapy community comes together to celebrate World PT Day and recognise the important contributions physiotherapists make to the health and wellbeing of people around the world. World Physiotherapy has created a toolkit in multiple languages to help you celebrate World PT Day 2026.

This year’s theme highlights the role of physiotherapy and physical activity in the prevention, management and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Connecting you with the evidence
This World PT Day, PEDro recognises physiotherapists worldwide for the important role they play in supporting the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. Used by physiotherapists in over 200 countries and territories, the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) is proud to support the profession by providing access to quality-rated physiotherapy research to inform evidence-based decisions about prevention, exercise and rehabilitation, and other aspects of physiotherapy.

PEDro provides free access to a searchable database of over 70,000 randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines relevant to physiotherapy, including more than 4,700 articles about cardiovascular conditions and cardiovascular health. Learn how to search here.

Subscribe to PEDro’s Evidence in your inbox, a free monthly email that includes links to the latest evidence added to PEDro in your chosen topic. We currently have 15 topics, including cardiothoracics, gerontology and neurology.
